Paris Fashion Week – S/S 2012 – Walter Van Beirendonck
This is a very unexpected collection – very bright fun suits followed by good old fashion wtf-ery and I love it.

Sarah Burton presents a collection showing that she is slowly establishing her own voice. There’s something fairy tale-esque (and borderlineĀ renaissanceĀ fair) that I am having mixed reactions too. The level of details can’t be beat, but I can’t decipher if her looks are repetitive from last season, or are simply elements of her style. Either way, the airy quality to the garments is still beautiful. The full ruffled skirt is amazing.

What much have been a very awkward presentation, John Galliano’s namesake line walked the runway. Class drama and beauty of what is Galliano’s signature. It is unclear what the fate of this line will be – if there will be any buyers for this collection – which is a shame because it is amazing. Nobody can put on a show like Galliano.

Christian Dior presented the last collection from John Galliano – and it is exquisite. Exactly what people expect of the Galliano woman. It’s a shame that the recent incident has cast a shadow over the collection because it is simply gorgeous. I am on both side on the issue – it is unfortunate but I think it was blown out of proportion. Isn’t what Director Mel Gibson done so much worse where his anti-semetism is actually visible in the medium he works in?

Jackets! The jackets come in a wide-range all extremely slim cut. One of each please!

Latest Lanvin menswear is all about “cool” – I love the crooked hats, mix of slim and wide pants, long coats, short coats, layers, colors, everything is so elegant and debonair.

The usual Galliano flair was at work here – half-costume show circus, half-theatrics. That said I’m kind of obsessed with the most basic looks in the collection (below). Maybe it’s the scarf thing I’m going through?

Ricardo Tisci consistently produces menswear that makes me cringe. Previously i was upset by the studded-plaid jumpsuit and this season, it’s rottweilers. Lots of Rottweilers. I have no words.
